Mission:
The missions never over.
Location: Quarters
Having dug out her reports and made sure Finchley received them Eve made her way back home. She knew she’d have some explaining to do to Wyatt, she just hoped he wouldn’t push her aside the way Finchley had. As the doors opened she looked around. “Wyatt?”
Wyatt came out of the bedroom. "Right here Eve." He said as he came to her, "Come sit down. "You want anything to eat or drink?" His concern genuine. Eve was his wife and he loved her dearly. He had questions but he wasn't going to push Eve into answering them.
Eve shook her head, rushing over and burying her head in Wyatt’s chest. “He’s disowned me Wyatt! My own uncle has disowned me!” She hugged him tightly feeling safe and loved.
Wyatt wrapped his arms around Eve and hugged her tightly. One hand coming up to gently rub her back. "Eve, he's mad. He'll get over it just give him some time." Wyatt said reassuringly "In the meantime, I'm here, I'm never leaving you or going to stop loving you." As he held her tighter.
Eve held on tight for a few more minutes before eventually looking up at Wyatt. “I need to tell you everything...” she let go and moved to sit on the sofa motioning for Wyatt to join her.
Wyatt nodded and followed Eve to the couch then wordlessly sat down next to her. He wasn't going to rush Eve. He sit here for as long as it took for her to speak and explain.
“I owe everything to Karadis, no doubt she’s going to hate my guts again now!” Eve sighed. “I don’t know how she found out about the sleeper program, I didn’t even know I was an agent! All I remember was being taken somewhere, after that my memory gets way fuzzy! At least until the real me was helped to reassert itself. This me, the person you see now, is a blend of that agent and the true me. The only difference is I’m more confident, strong willed, hell...bad tempered even!” She smiled a wry smile, if only briefly.
Wyatt tilted his head as Eve spoke and when she had finished, he offered a lopsided smile. "I think you are over thinking this, Eve. I don't believe Karadis hates you at all. She helped you and I am forever grateful that she could help you." He paused, his head dropped for a second and then rose, his eyes full of the love he had for her. "All I know is I love you and will continue to love you until the end time and beyond."
Eve couldn’t help but smile at that. “I love you too Imzadi, you keep me sane and grounded. I’d be lost without you.” She paused. “Thank you for understanding, I couldn’t tell you, not until now.”
Wyatt nodded, "I do understand Eve however, one thing. We promised no secrets, so no more secrets between us." He answered in a soft voice. He wasn't angry with Eve. He could only imagine what she had gone through and was going through now with Finchley acting like he was. "We're in this together." He added.
Eve nodded. “I swear to you Imzadi, no more secrets. I honestly don’t know anymore than I’ve said. All I can remember is in my personal logs, the Captain has those now. I need to talk to Karadis, to apologise for all of this.”
"I wasn't referring to this so much Eve but for the future." Wyatt clarified. "As for Karadis, give it sometime before you go and speak to her. I imagine the captain is probably chewing on her right now."
“You’re right, she’s probably pretty annoyed right now.” Eve sighed before giving Wyatt a smile. “Could I have an Uttaberry juice?”
"I think she is probably more annoyed with your uncle than you Eve." Wyatt replied. "Of course you can love." He said rising from the couch, "Want anything to go with it?"
“Erm...a small salad platter would be lovely please.” Eve smiled. “You’re right, I’d imagine Finchley has been chewing out Karadis since I left his office. If I hadn’t said anything, and it had come up later on then he’d have been annoyed with me for not saying something sooner.”
Wyatt nodded. "You got it.." He answered just short of the kitchen, "Eve, it is over and done with. Stop beating yourself up. Here's some advice, a very wise counselor told me. "It is in the past leave it there and move on with your life."
Eve grinned remembering the day she told Wyatt that very quote. “I guess I should listen to my own advice.” Wyatt always did have a way of making her feel better. “Brown promised me information about my mother, I should have known that was a lie. Yet...I didn’t sense deception when he told me that.” She shrugged her shoulders.
Wyatt shook his head, "No, you just needed to be reminded sweetie." he thought on Brown. "Maybe he learned how to block his feelings, emotions or he isn't what he appears to be." Wyatt theorized as he ducked into the kitchen to fix Eve her salad platter.
“I think you’re right, that’s the only way he’d able to keep his emotions from me, he’s only human after all. If he was a telepath it would be different.” Eve relaxed back in her seat. “I don’t know what I’d do without you Wyatt, you’re not just my husband, you’re my best friend, someone I can talk to and get an honest answer, and I’m forever grateful that I’m the woman who makes you happy.”
Wyatt beamed at Eve's compliment. "I will always be here for you Eve, always. You are my best friend as well Eve. You know, I am an extremely lucky man, with riches to drive any king mad with envy, for I have a wife who loves me with every fiber of her being just as I do her." He smiled at Eve, "What could be better than that?"
“Absolutely nothing!” Eve grinned. “As long as we’re together I’m happy.”
