A wolf in sheep's clothing Pt 15

Posted on Tue Jun 11th, 2024 @ 5:10pm by Lieutenant Evelyn Steele & Lieutenant Commander Wyatt Steele

Mission: The missions never over.
Location: Conference Room

“So what’s the plan?” Eve looked at Wyatt wondering exactly what they could come up with that Finchley would think was a good plan.

"I'm reminded of an old Earth saying, it was used a great deal with planning or designing complex systems. Keep it simple stupid. or otherwise known as KISS. The thought being you don't over complicate things needlessly. We'll use that here Eve.
Brown is expecting us to report on Captain Kerr, we'll give him what he expects..... the reports. The key is going to be you not being shut down and getting the captain and the others in place where they can act." Wyatt replied.

Eve nodded. "The only thing is Brown will be suspicious if I turn up apparently unable to hear him, though we did just go through torture so he wont know that isn't the cause." She smiled a wry smile. "I'll have to rely heavily on you though, I'll only know what's going on by keeping a telepathic link with you."

"Of course, he will Eve and we can use that against him. Using our recent mission has a cover to cover your deafness will relieve his fears. You can count on me sweetie. You just maintain our link and all will be fine." Wyatt assured her.

Eve nodded. “I’ll do my best. First things first I need to adjust my report. The old one would probably cost my uncle his command, or at least put him on the radar for replacement. I have to make sure that doesn’t happen.”

"Good idea Eve. I just wish I knew what the captain planned. I wish there was a way to get brown aboard the Thall. I'd feel better with him here than us in his office. We'd be in control of the situation." Wyatt replied.

Eve nodded. “I’m not sure he’d come to us, that would make him suspicious. Maybe we should suggest somewhere neutral, where we could get privacy of course.”

"Good point Eve." Wyatt replied. "What about somewhere on the base's promenade? It would be open and still afford us the privacy we desire."

“That could work, but we’d need a way of getting the Admiral to where my uncle can get to him. We can’t afford for station security, or Brown’s personal security to get in the way.”

"More his personal security than station security Eve. Perhaps a diversion to separate Brown from his shadow." Wyatt suggested. "So we can be in control of the situation and allow the captain to make his play."

Eve nodded. “Good idea, what do you have in mind?”

Wyatt grinned. I'm still working on it." He admitted.

“Well I’m not exactly being much help suggesting options, am I?” Eve sighed rubbing the bridge of her nose. “Sorry I’m just tired.”

"Oh Eve. You are being a huge help. You are giving suggestions to the ideas I'm bouncing off you." Wyatt nodded, "I know you're tired. Why don't you lie down for a bit and I'll still work on a plausible reason to get Brown to meet with us."

Eve nodded. “If you’re sure you don’t mind? I guess I did rush back into my duties at full pelt, but I’m not letting you meet with Admiral Brown alone.”

"I'm sure Eve. You rest. We, I need you at the top of your game. I promise I am not going to meet Admiral Brown without you by my side."

Eve nodded. “In that case give me a call once you’ve finished working out the details. I don’t want my uncle thinking I'm not up to performing my duties.”

"Sure, thing Eve." Wyatt assured her. "Your uncle is never going to think that about you, not if I have a say in the matter."

“I know Imzadi” Eve smiled as she headed for the door I’ll see you later.”

Wyatt nodded. "Have a good rest love." He replied as he returned to working on a plan to ensnare Admiral Brown.
