Mission:
The missions never over.
Location: The city, Sestus One.
Timeline: Current.
Three hours had passed since the group had been tossed into uncomfortable cells, Eve had started off trying to assess Karadis’ condition. Her saving grace was the fact that she was Klingon, if she had been a Human Eve was sure Karadis would be dying or dead.
The door had eventually opened to reveal two burly Klingon's, their eyes fell on Eve then they unceremoniously removed her from the cell locking the door behind them. It was sometime before she was returned, dragged back into the cell she was tossed onto the floor much to the amusement of the Klingon guards. “Thinks she’s tough that one! T’kLar had fun questioning her!” The door slammed shut behind them as they left laughing.
Eve pulled herself across to the nearest corner propping herself up against the cell wall, she had a beauty of a shiner from a well placed punch, not to mention a split lip, and a cut from a dagger across her cheek. That and some bruised and broken ribs, T’kLar had made sure to make his point before returning her to Finchley.
*Outside*
Wyatt had felt Eve's torture and it left him in a cold fury. Stealing some native clothing, he placed themselves over his uniform and quickly found the Klingon depot and ground vehicles. The vehicles were parked close together, where destroying one, would cause a chain reaction and destroy may more. He waited until the cover of darkness to act. Turning his phaser to its highest setting, he fired at the closest land vehicle exploding it and setting off a massive chain reaction and a massive fireball. Which left the depot in ruins. He then proceeded to pick off several Klingon's decimating them and their rank. *Payback is a bitch^ He thought savagely as he slipped away and plotted his next attack.
[Inside]
Finchley had kept a vigil on Karadis when Eve had been taken away. He'd tried to stop them doing so, but received a number of punches and kicks to stop him. When Eve was returned, and he saw the state she was in, he'd once again tried to have a go at the guards but one had drawn a phaser on him and that had stopped him in his tracks.
Once they'd left, he went to Eve and tried to make her as comfortable as possible. He knew there were no words to comfort someone who'd just been tortured, so he'd sat and held her hand, stroking it to let her know her Uncle was there. Once again, the cell doors opened and this time four guards came in, this time pointing at Finchley, "You, Captain, the General would like to have a talk with you. It would be so good of you to try and resist us taking you!"
"I would give you shits the satisfaction" Finchley replied, standing up and walking from the cell.
A couple of minutes later, he was sat strapped to a wooden chair, watching as T'kLar came towards him, an Iron bar in his hand.
"What plans do SFI have for this sector?" he asked.
"Fuck you" Finchley replied.
The iron bar flew out and down on his right knee. Finchley silently threw his head back and wrenched at his bonds, gritting his teeth and breathing quickly between them, not giving T'kLar the satisfaction of hearing him scream out. "What plans do SFI have for this sector?" the General repeated.
"Throwing you...a surprise birthday...party!" Finchley answered, laughing at T'kLar.
"Hold his hand out" T'kLar told a guard, who did so.
The Klingon brought the iron bar down on the back of Finchley's hand, then repeated it twice more. Finchley screamed this time, the pain was excruciating.
"Asking...you...if you'd...consider...running for President..." Finchley gasped. A guard punched the side of Finchley's head, then stepped round in front of him and gave him a right then left punch to his jaw.
"Considering...you...for...Miss...Universe..." Finchley grinned through blood soaked teeth.
"I'm glad you have a sense of humour Captain Kerr, you're going to need it" T'kLar said. He put the iron bar down and walked back to Finchley, D'k tagh in hand. He bent forward, reached down and plunged it into Finchley's left inner thigh and twisted it, leaving it in place as he stood up again.
Finchley twisted and turned in pain, rocking the chair back and forth as he tried to keep from crying out. "You...can...ask...me...hundred...times...T'kLar...I...won't...tell...you...anything!" he spat at the General.
"Ah, but what about the hundred and first Captain" T'kLar answered, reaching out and twisting the D'k tagh again. This time the pain was to much and Finchley screamed horribly.
"One way or another Captain, I will get the answers to my questions, I don't care what it takes, or how long, nobody is coming to rescue you" T'kLar said confidently.
*Outside*
Wyatt was moving leaving the smoking depot behind him, he stuck to the shadows and moved like a ghost, He wondered if the Klingon's holding the away team knew their depot was smoking ruins and their barracks were next. For in the confusion at the depot he had stolen some Klingon disruptors and some other 'goodies' He put his Federation phaser on his hip and withdrew one if the Klingon disruptors. He wanted anyone who might be around to hear the sound of a Klingon weapon being fired.. Sow a little paranoia among the troops.
[Inside]
An hour and a half after Finchley had been taken out, the door to the cell opened again and he was dragged back inside and unceremoniously thrown to the floor. Face covered in bloody spital, one eye virtually closed, jaw swollen, one hand broken, several ribs broken, right knee ballooned up and a bloodied bandaged left thigh showed he'd been through it with the General.
The guards took Kilbane next.
Groaning in pain, Finchley dragged himself over to Karadis to see if she was still breathing, she was, but it was laboured.
"Well...old...friend...neither...of us...will...be winning a...beauty...contest any...time...soon" he manged, laying his head on her leg. He looked at Eve, and dragged himself over to her.
"Hey kiddo...how...are...you holding...up?" he asked her.
Eve offered the best smile she could muster under the circumstances, she’d be damned if she’d show any weakness now. “I’m just....peachy!” She tried not to show how much it hurt when she tried to get more comfortable. “I haven’t...told them anything...besides...” she gave Finchley a wry look. “We all have...to be professional...don’t we?”
"Touché niece...touché" Finchley replied, coughing out some blood, "When the...guards...come back...we...can spring...up...take them out...and...high...tail it...out...of here..." he laughed, then immediately doubled over.
“Captain! Captain!?” Eve winced as she moved to check on her uncle.
"Just...let me...catch...my...breath" Finchley replied.
*Outside*
As Wyatt planned the next act in his one-man war, he contacted the Thall. Told the officer in charge that the away team had been captured all except for him. That Captain Kerr told him not to come and rescue him. But he said nothing about other members of the crew coming to rescue him and the away team either on foot or from the air. He thought of opening his bond with Eve but decided against it, it was best she didn't know. He was taking no chances. She probably had an idea of what he was doing anyways.
"Did you think I'd forgotten about you, Lieutenant Steele is it?" a voice behind Wyatt said.
Wyatt spun around disruptor in hand at the sound of his name and saw Jara standing there with a dozen or so Klingons.
He nodded. "Yep, you got the name right, Wyatt Steele at your service. Traitor." He replied in a casual tone. Then laughed at her, "Oh, you do have to do better than that Jara. Those land hoppers were all fully operational just like this disruptor and mine are.
Jara stood there with around a dozen or so armed Klingon soldiers. "You can take out, oh, three, perhaps four of them, but then the rest of their 'friends' will shoot you down like a dog. I suggest you drop your weapons before you do something stupid you'll regret. By the way, the compound and land hoppers you took out, that was just a mechanics workshop, those hoppers were faulty...a bit like your logic of believing you could rescue your fellow crew members. Please, do give me a reason to shoot you" she added, leveling a phaser at Wyatt.
Wyatt laughed at her, He was totally nonplussed by the phaser pointing at him. "Oh, you do have to do better than that Jara. Those land hoppers were all fully operational just like this disruptor and the mine you are all standing on." He said pointing at the fresh dirt she and the Klingons were standing on.. "I believe the Klingon's have a saying that fits here. Today is a good day to die. Shall we all die together Jara? So I have a counter propsal. Drop your weapons and you live. Move and you die. It’s simple really."
“Then we all die” Jara replied, shooting Wyatt in the chest.
*Inside*
Eve felt the shot as Wyatt was hit, but she knew if she showed any sign of it the Klingon's would soon take advantage. She wanted to scream, and cry but she knew she couldn’t. She would prove just how ‘Professional’ she could be.
Finchley sensed more than saw Eve slightly tense, "What is...it?" he asked her.
Eve looked at Finchley. “Wyatt...”
"What about him?" Finchley wanted to know.
Eve buried her feelings giving her Uncle an emotionless gaze. “He’s been hurt...”
*Outside*
Wyatt looked at Jara as she shot him in the chest. Before he fell over stunned.
Jara looked at the Klingon nearest Wyatt and asked, "Check the mine he set up."
The Klingon nodded, but didn't move, just looked at the set up, "He's used a pressure pad, but it's wired, if I fire at the wiring, it will break the connection."
Jara took a deep breath, it was all or nothing, "Fire" she said.
The Klingon nodded, put the setting on his disruptor to it's lowest setting, took aim and fired. The wiring melted, breaking the circuit, and looking at Jara said, "It's safe, we can all step off.
Jara breathed a sigh of relief, stepped off the mine pad and said "Get him inside and into the cells, let the General know that's all of them captured now. Two of the Klingon's lifted Wyatt up by the shoulders and began dragging him inside the shrine and to the cells.
[Inside]
A couple of minutes later, the cell door opened and Wyatt was thrown inside.
Wyatt landed in a heap. His face was bloodied and bruised. The Klingons hadn't been kind in getting him back to the cell.
Eve wanted nothing more than to rush to her beloved husband, to hold him, to tell him how much she loved him, but she knew the Klingons would use their love against them. They’d use her against him as a tool to make him give up his secrets and she couldn’t allow that. “Wyatt...” she moved across to him ignoring the pain she was in. “Are you alright?”
Wyatt didn't answer, not at first. He just lay where he had been tossed. Then a low anguished moan came from his lips, and he rolled over to look at his darling Eve. His face was ghastly. One eye black and blue and swollen shut. A goose egg knot on his forehead, his nose was broken, and his lips were bloodied and split. "Eve." He acknowledged his beloved wife. He wanted to hold and comfort her, take away her pain and bruises and he would once they got out of here. "Guess, they didn't like my idea for their land hoppers." He gasped.
Eve offered a smile even though it made her lip hurt. “So what now? It’s...not like any of us are up to...fighting our way out of here!” She paused to shift her weight and lie down on the hard floor. It was best to rest while they could.
Finchley actually smiled at Eve and Wyatt being together in such as such an awful situation as the one they found themselves in, ~Young love~ he thought.
It took all he had to force himself to where Karadis still lay. He looked at the Klingon woman, remembering how much had they been through together, what scrapes they'd gotten into and out of, the fights and arguments they'd had with each other, and how they'd always had each others backs.
Her breathing was more laboured than before, coming in short gasps...and he took hold of her hand, "You've...always...been...the...one...", and his head fell onto her lap.
At the slight jolt of from Finchley's head falling, Karadis' eye's flickered open and she looked down. Finchley's head lay on her lap, and he was holding her hand.
"Hey...Bird...what's...with...the...touching?" she gasped, using her free hand gently push Finchley's head, there was no response.
"Bird..." she tried again, once more moving his head, there was still no response.
"Bird...bird...come on...say something" she now insisted, again moving his head, still to no avail.
"BIRD!!!" she now shouted, rolling his head, but it just lolled back to where it was.
"BIIIIIRD!!!!", and she reached down and placed her hand on his neck.
"No...no...NOOOOOOOOO....BIIIIIIIIIIRD!!!!!!" she called out, her head falling back onto the floor. She closed her eyes tightly, feeling anger coursing through her broken body.
Suddenly her eyes flashed open and she arched back her head, a gutteral roar now emanating from deep within her, "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"
Eve got up as quick as she could, it took a moment to register that she was still sensing her uncle which meant he was alive. It was obviously a ruse, but she had to play along. “Hey! Help us!” She looked towards the cell door. “We need help!!!”
Wyatt was confused but trusted Eve and her senses so, he went along. "Hey! Get in here! Captain Kerr is dying! Help now!"
At the sound of Karadis' roar, and Eve and Wyatt yelling for help, the cell door flew open and two Klingon guards came running in to see what was going on. They saw Finchley lying prone on the ground, head on the Klingon woman's lap, "What's going on?" one of them demanded.
"You've killed...our Captain...you bastards!!!!" Karadis yelled in gasps.
They both came over to look at Finchley, one of them toe poking him. Finchley's hand that held Kardis' one slowly moved forward, and though it ached for him to move, Finchley grabbed the handle of the hidden D'k tagh, pulled it out and stabbed both Klingon's in their feet several times.
To stunned at first to realise what had happened, very quickly the pain of the stabs registered with them but it was too late, they both started to fall. Finchley grabbed the one closest to him with one hand, and guided the toppling second guard towards Eve and Wyatt.
Eve gathered what strength she had left and quickly lunged at the Klingon, putting what weight she could on his windpipe trying to cut off his air supply. She hoped Wyatt would be able to help finish the Klingon off, as he put up a fight adding yet more wounds to those she already had.
Wyatt moved with surprising quickness. His was battered and bruised but his legs, arms and hands worked just fine. As the Klingon found out as Wyatt moved to Eve, his hand coming up and around the Klingon's throat as he squeezed the life out of him. "Die you bastard!"
Eve kept her weight on the Klingon until his last breath before she moved off him. She was pretty sure that she now had a few more broken ribs but she had to get up and move regardless.
Finchley himself now had the Klingon he'd grabbed by the throat and plunged the dagger deep into his neck four times. Blood spurted across his face, but he ignored it, now taking the dagger and slitting the Klingon's throat. There was a surprised look on the Klingon's face as he lay there dying, and Finchley leaned in close, saying, "It's your day to die!"
Wyatt gave a final squeeze of the Klingon's neck before moving to Eve's side. "I think we need to move and as quickly as possible."
Eve looked towards Finchley. “Captain?”
"Get their...disruptor" Finchley answered, "and anything else useful they have."
Tag Eve
He himself took the disruptor from the Klingon he'd killed and placed it in Karadis hand, "You need...to get up...Commander, you're...on point" he told her.
Slowly, very slowly, Karadis got up into a seated position, wincing in pain, and replied, "Aye...Sir."
Though it hurt like all hell, Finchley dragged himself to his knees and finally to his feet. He'd lost a lot of blood, and the room began spinning, but he closed his eyes and forced himself to breathe slowly. Opening his eyes again, now that he felt a little more steady, the room wasn't spinning anymore and he sighed in relief.
"Ok, the situation...is this" he began, "none of us are...really in any fit state to...fight our way out. Kilbane is missing...but...I believe he'll be...in the torture room...with T'kLar. Lieutenant Eve, he'd decided this was the easiest way to differentiate between Eve and Wyatt for the moment, and...Lieutenant Steele, support...each other...the best you can...and I'll help Karadis..."
"That'll be...a first...." Karadis said flippantly.
Finchley looked at her, "I...can...just as easily...let you...stay here" he replied.
"Only...if there's...room...service" Karadis answered, now on her feet, but swaying slightly.
"In...your dreams" Finchley said. Turning to Eve and Wyatt he said, "Let's go...get...Kilbane."
